Our verdict
SBI Card Aurum is SBI's invite-only bid for the ultra-premium segment — a 30g metal card with unlimited international lounge access, golf, concierge, and a below-2% forex rate, at a ₹9,999+GST fee waived on ₹12L annual spend. The 1% base reward rate is thin for the fee tier; the card is really sold on lifestyle perks and status rather than earn rate.
Pros
- Unlimited international lounge access via DreamFolks is rare even among premium metal cards
- 40,000-point (~₹10,000) welcome benefit plus Club Marriott, WSJ and Mint memberships add real first-year value
- 1.99% forex is excellent for an Indian credit card across all spend levels
- 16 golf rounds and 12 lessons a year is a genuinely strong perk for golfing cardholders
Cons
- 1% base reward rate (4 points per ₹100) is weak for a ₹9,999+GST fee card — several cheaper cards beat it on everyday spend
- Invite-only issuance means most applicants cannot get this card on demand regardless of income or credit score
- ₹12 lakh annual spend to waive next year's fee is a high bar even for a premium card
- Domestic lounge access is capped at 16 visits/year, not unlimited, unlike the international allowance
