Our verdict
Axis Freecharge is a digital-first card that makes most sense for Freecharge app users, with a ₹250 joining fee and ₹250 annual fee from the second year. It earns EDGE Reward points rather than cashback, plus monthly milestone points (100 at ₹2,000–4,999 spend, 350 at ₹5,000 and above). Outside Freecharge the benefits are thin, so compare it with Axis Ace before applying.
Pros
- Low fee — ₹250 joining and ₹250 a year from year two
- Monthly milestone points: 100 points at ₹2,000–4,999 spend, 350 at ₹5,000 and above
- Axis Bank backend — reliable card infrastructure
- Works well as a utility-only companion card
Cons
- Strongly Freecharge-dependent — value drops outside the platform
- Axis does not state a rupee value for the points, so the effective return on other spends is hard to gauge
- No lounge, no fuel surcharge waiver, 3.5% forex markup
- Rent and wallet loads earn no rewards
